Casino Pil got together for their first gig on 31st of May 1999 at the Twelve Bar Club in London's Denmark Street. None of us had met before that night ... we knew Joe, but the others were strangers. However, we were offered a residency on the spot which continued until the end of the year. Since then we've done lots of stuff in France including regular gigs in Paris. Back home we've done showcases at the Sound Republic and the Water Rats but prefer to play longer sets and earn hard cash at less prestigious venues in East London.

Casino Pil are the ultimate party band, playing a mixture of rock, reggae, funk and ska, often within the same 3 minute flannel-free song, using whatever toys and props come to hand. Never taking themselves too seriously, Casino Pil nonetheless impress both as musicians and as showmen, bringing a wide range of talent from both music and performance art together in an exuberant explosion of pop silliness & tea. The sheer musicianship of frontman and songwriter Joe, the irreverant cavorting of toys player Goo, the imposing stage presence and extraordinary voice of backing singer Warren (see also G-Tone), the frantic energy and stamina of drummer Jean-Marc, and the good-natured incompetence of bassist Dan combine to deliver an experience few will forget.

In a world of rubbishy, cooler-than-thou indie bands and desperately earnest singer-songwriters, Casino Pil stand alone. (That's quite enough flannel - Ed)
